Students at Columbia University re-established their encampment on the South Lawn, naming it “Revolt for Rafah — Installment I”. This protest, coinciding with Alumni Weekend, is a direct response to the ongoing massacres in Rafah conducted by Israel, according to organizers.
Wayne State students and alumni launched their Gaza solidarity encampment on Thursday, days after police raided University of Michigan Ann Arbor’s encampment.
The police in riot gear entered the university’s quad and disbursed most of the students. Two sttudnets were arrested and students on the scene said one of the arrestees hijab was removed by a Chicago Police Department officer.
DePaul University Divestment Coalition, which launched their encampment on the school’s quad 12 days ago, said the administration has left the negotiating table in bad faith.
Approximately 100 Zionists enclosed the encampment’s main entrance but couldn’t enter. Students, once again, were more organized and prepared to defend the camp.
Zio-Proud Boys Charged at the encampment while Chicago police and University of Chicago police stood by for approximately 40 minutes. The group never breached the encampment as the campers were far more organized and prepared to defend themselves.
A group of “autonomous students” has occupied Hamilton Hall and renamed the building after Hind Rajab, the young girl who was murdered by Israel earlier this year during their bombardment of Gaza, according to the Columbia University Apartheid Divest Coalition.

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, Columbia University President Minouche Shafik authorized the NYPD to arrest students participating in the "Gaza Solidarity Encampment" on the university's South Lawn around 1:30pm.

In the United States, Trump is moving to use the IHRA’s definition to apply Title VI of the Civil Rights Act to protect Israel from its critics by effectively saying that Judaism is a nationality or a race and thus criticizing Israel becomes an “official” form of anti-Semitism. This will threaten the federal funding to university campuses where the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement has a presence, essentially targeting Palestinian activism on college and university campuses.
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is under heat as a student received threats online due to a cultural presentation she put together under her position as a multicultural advocate. Contents of the presentation have lead to “anti-semestic” accusations and protests on campus.
This February, pro-Israel advocacy group AMCHA released an online inventory of campus chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) throughout the United States in an effort to connect Palestine solidarity activism to real and perceived anti-Semitism on campus.
National Students for Justice in Palestine is excited to announce that it will be holding its sixth annual conference on November 4th-6th, hosted by George Mason University Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA) in Fairfax, VA and the DMV.

University of California Berkeley reinstated a student-led course on Palestine less than a week after its suspension. Executive Dean of the College of Letters and Science, Carla Hesse rescinded the suspension of the class in a statement written on September 19.
