Palestinian community leader, activist, and torture survivor Rasmea Odeh announced through the Rasmea Defense Committee that she would accept a plea deal on her immigration charges, bringing her years-long fight with the U.S. justice system to an end.
Palestinian activist Rasmea Odeh’s defense team recently filed a motion to dismiss the U.S. Attorney’s new indictment brought against her last December. Odeh was originally indicted in 2013, and the prosecutors won the conviction in 2014 before it was overturned in 2016.
Rasmea Odeh is awaiting a court decision that will determine whether she will be granted a new trial.

There isn’t a truthful soul on this planet that can deny that Odeh approaches life with love; To many across the country she is a hero, and an icon. There is not a terrorizing bone in her body and there clearly never has been.
Students for Justice in Palestine’s Chicago Network hosted a fundraiser “Celebrating somoud” at DePaul University to honor Rasmea Odeh’s steadfastness and resilience, on Feb. 3. All ticket sales and donations went to Rasmea’s Defense Committee. Odeh is a 67-year-old Palestinian community organizer in the Chicagoland area.
CHICAGO, IL — Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) Chicago Network is hosting a fundraiser to celebrate the resilience of Rasmea Odeh this Tuesday, February 3rd at 8:00 pm at DePaul University.
Odeh was in a Port Huron, Michigan, jail for 5 weeks, the last two in solitary confinement, after she was convicted of one count of unlawful procurement of naturalization. Yesterday the government’s attempt to delay her return to her friends and family failed.
