Palestinians ignored during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, activists march on
Reporting by Jordan Esparza-Kelley & Nader Ihmoud
Protestors marched on the Democratic National Convention during its last day in Chicago. Following speeches and performances from revolutionary artists, over 10,000 protestors took to the streets and headed towards the United Center. Although the Mayor of Chicago along with CPD denied them the right to march directly to the United Center, the protestors made it within “sight and sound” of the venue.
While they marched in the streets, the Democratic Party selected Vice President Kamala Harris as their Presidential nominee. Harris used the DNC to double down on her support for Israel, and canceled the panel of Palestinians that were slated to speak at the event.
Organizers and activists are doubtful Harris will be any better than her predecessor and current President, Joe Biden. Yet the struggle to build people power never ends until that mission is fulfilled, according to organizers.
