PALESTINE IN AMERICA’S PALIPALOOZA RETURNS FEATURING AMIRA JAZEERA, DJ NANOOS & MAMA YAYA

PALESTINE IN AMERICA’S PALIPALOOZA RETURNS FEATURING AMIRA JAZEERA, DJ NANOOS & MAMA YAYA

Amira Jazeera, DJ Nanoos and Mama Yaya will rock the stage at this year’s Palipalooza!

Palestine in America hosts an annual cultural event to help fundraise for our  quarterly magazine. PiA has not hosted an event since 2019 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s event will be hosted in Chicago at La Estrella Mini Mart and tickets are available at PalestineinAmerica.com for $20.

Amira Jazeera is a Palestinian-American artist and producer based in Chicago. Raised on a passion for pop music. Jazeera uniquely infuses her sound with her 80s & 2000s pop influences using dreamy synths and vintage drums. Skillfully, she merges sounds from her influences to create a nostalgic, but fresh sonic world. The “Palestinian Pop Princess” was featured in our 2020 Music Edition and performed at our last Palipalooza.

DJ Nanoos is a Palestinian-Armenian DJ based in Chicago that highlights music of the Levantine and North Africa by mixing with contemporary sounds and genres such as House, Hip Hop, Afrobeats, Amapiano and more. Her goal is to amplify these sounds and create spaces for Arab and SWANA youth to feel welcome and heard. She has co-founded the @gobabaworldwide party highlighting Afro, Arab, and Caribbean music.

Mama Yaya is a Chicago based, singer/songwriter of Palestinian and Jewish descent. She showcases a unique blend of musical skills to tell her story. She began her music/acting career officially in the 5th grade and has since performed at venues such as U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago Symphony Center, Pritzker Pavilion, Uncommon Ground, Refuge Live, Underground Wonder Bar, B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted, Kingston Mines, Skokie Theater, and many more. She performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for the Deaf and Loud Symphonic Experience.

The venue will be a Palestinian “dukana” filled with Palestinian vendors, cuisine and music. Palipalooza is one way Palestine in America tries to raise money for our writers, photographers and graphic designers. Come have a great time and support Palestinian journalism and artists!
