Israel continues to ethnically cleanse North Gaza
Entering the third week, the Israeli military is escalating its assault and besiegement on Jabalia–a town in northern Gaza.
Since October 6th, Israel’s mission in Gaza has been to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from the north. At least 770 have been killed and 1,000 injured since the assault began on October 6th, with countless corpses remaining under the rubble, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza.
The Israeli military is aiming to forcefully displace and starve out 400,000 civilians and destroy Gaza City. The offensive began in early October, with families trapped in a ruined town. Israel has besieged shelters and filmed itself detaining men and boys.
The Israeli military operation used soldiers, tanks, air strikes, and quadcopters to accomplish their goals. Anyone who stays risks being killed by those means.
"The Israeli army detonated successive explosions to demolish dozens of buildings right on top of their residents," an eyewitness in Jabalia said."Dozens of families remain under the rubble.
Thousands of families are in dire need of water, food, and medical treatment amid the collapse of the healthcare system, following the deliberate targeting of hospitals operating in the northern region.
On October 18, the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) said that 20,000 people were forcefully evicted from Jabalia.
The Civil Defence in Gaza announced on Wednesday, October 23, a complete halt to its operations in the northern governorate, citing a catastrophic situation. According to the statement, residents are now left without essential humanitarian services.
The Israeli occupation army continues its campaign of extermination and forced displacement in northern Gaza, causing a deepening humanitarian crisis. Ground incursions focus on Jabalia camp; daily massacres occur. Despite claims of essential supplies being allowed on October 1, food aid has been completely cut off, resulting in the worst humanitarian crisis in the war so far.
Even the journalists who remain to document the war crimes are under threat. Israel has accused six Al Jazeera reporters in Jabalia of being resistance fighters in an attempt to justify more violence against Palestinian journalists.
“Despite the dangerous and untrue threats made against us from the Israeli occupation, we remain committed to our profession and will continue to report on this genocide,” Hossam Shabat tweeted.
