Activist target Boeing headquarters in Chicago
An autonomous group of activists gathered outside of Boeing’s headquarters in downtown Chicago to denounce and protest the company’s involvement in the genocide of Palestinians.
Boeing manufactures multiple weapon systems that are routinely used in war crimes against Palestinians.
As supporters trickled onto the sidewalk along Washington street, there were dozens of Chicago police officers waiting for them.
After approximately an hour of chanting, the demonstrators began to march west. An activist dumped red paint on Boeing’s building, which was meant to symbolize blood, before they left.
The activists shut down several intersections for minutes at a time, during their march. Protesters stood their ground and disrupted traffic, despite being threatened with arrest by police several times.
Right before police would begin to attempt to detain protesters, the demonstrators would quickly and strategically move to another intersection.
Regardless, the police premeditatedly targeted one of the protesters and detained her even though she was on the sidewalk just as the police commanded.
Activists attempted and failed to de-arrest their comrade. Following the arrest, police dispersed the crowd by threatening mass arrests.
